Navarro College Honors Program

The mission of the Navarro College Honors Program is to cultivate a diverse community of learners dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and intellectual development, and who actively seek academic excellence through a more rigorous curriculum of study.

The focus of the Navarro College Honors Program is student success and improved completion and transfer rates. Navarro College takes great pride in developing innovative methods that will inspire creativity, critical thinking skills, and self-confidence in our students, and in developing globally responsible citizens and leaders. Each Navarro College Honors student will possess the skills needed to promote autonomous, lifelong learning. 

Students who are TSI complete and have a minimum 2.5 GPA are eligible to enroll in an honors course. Each student must meet with the Executive Dean of Academic Studies or a Navarro Honors faculty advisor to be enrolled in Honors sections. A $50 course fee is applied to each Honors Section. This course fee is applied to  Honors Program functions, fees for memberships in Honor Councils, and professional development. 

Students in the Navarro College Honors Program must:

  • Sign an Honors Course Contract for each Honors (HNR) section enrolled
  • Take at least 15 credit hours per semester, including a minimum of 3 credit hours in Honors sections.  
  • Successfully complete Honors sections with a grade of A or B in order to receive honors credit. A grade of C or D may be earned for credit in the course but will not be recorded as HNR credit on the student’s transcript.

To be eligible to graduate from the Navarro Honors Program, a student must maintain a 3.25 GPA, complete 12 credit hours of Honors courses, and submit an application to the Registrar for Navarro College Honors distinction.
