College Success Skills

Required of all students for graduation and recommended in the first semester, the College Success Skills course is designed to help prepare students for integration into and success in college. The course will focus on a better understanding of self, goals, motivations, relationships; the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a successful college student; and increasing familiarity with Navarro College. The course also includes opportunities to appraise abilities, interests, personality traits, and develop plans for career development. Completion of the course is required for graduation from Navarro College for students seeking an associate degree.

 

CSS 1100 College Success Skills

1 lec (1 Nedcor.) A one-hour course required of all students as entering freshmen. Must be completed within the first 30 hours. Designed to help prepare students for integration into and success in college.

Topics include improving study skills, time management, financial literacy, and informed educational and personal decision-making. Opportunities to discover and apply learning styles and develop plans for academic success. Students will explore their understanding of self, goals, motivations, relationships, and how those aspects of life interact. Completion of the course is required for graduation from Navarro College for students seeking the AA, AS, AAT, or AAS degrees.
